The clue is in the name

1X2 is the standard European notation for a football match bet: home win, draw, away win. The company that holds this studio’s British licence is called Football 1 x 2 Limited, incorporated on 1 June 2003. Both facts point at the same origin, and it is an unusual one for a slot studio.

This business began in simulated football betting. Its own account dates the games operation to 2002 and describes 1X2gaming as having “been pioneering Virtual Football products” since then, growing from a single production house into a multi-brand producer and aggregator. Virtual sports titles are still in the catalogue today: Virtual Football Pro, Virtual Soccer, Virtual Champions, and a Spino series covering football, horses, greyhounds and cricket.

There is an older thread too. The register carries an inactive trading name, Chase Racing, on the same account, and the group’s former parent company carried the same name — a remnant of a betting-services lineage that predates the software business entirely.

Four studio names, one licence

This is the thing most coverage gets wrong, so it is worth stating plainly. 1X2 Gaming, 1X2 Network, Iron Dog Studio, Prospect Gaming and AD LUNAM are not five companies. They are one licensed company and its in-house studio brands, and the Gambling Commission register proves it: all of them are trading names on the same account, 2266.

That matters most for Iron Dog Studio, which is routinely described as an acquisition. It was not. The company presents it as a launch in 2017, and the register treats it as a trading name rather than a separate licensed entity. There is no acquisition anywhere on the record.

The picture that emerges is of a studio that reinvented itself. The virtual-sports business that gave the company its name is now the smallest part of what it ships, and the 2017 launch has overtaken the 2002 original two to one.

The British position, and why it is worth noting

Football 1 x 2 Limited holds four active licences under account 2266, all remote: Gambling Software since 12 March 2015, and Betting Host (Virtual Events), Game Host (Bingo) and Game Host (Casino) since 12 June 2018. The head office is in Brighton; the registered office is in Essex.

What stands out is what is not there. The account records zero regulatory actions, zero premises and zero domain names. One structural note. The catalogue’s own content-management dates are unreliable as release dates — several titles are back-stamped to 1990, 1999 and in one case 1800. We have not printed release years for that reason.

How to read those RTP sets

You will have noticed the RTP column contains sets rather than numbers: “96 / 94 / 88”, “97 / 95 / 93 / 91”. This is the most useful thing about 1X2’s published data and the most easily misread.

Those are the configurations the studio makes available, and the operator chooses which one to run. It is not a range within a single game. A casino licensing Eagle Strike is picking 96, 94 or 88 per cent, and you get whichever it picked.

It is also more alarming, once you read it properly. Several Iron Dog Megaways titles offer an 88 per cent build. AD LUNAM’s Maverick publishes seven configurations running from 97 down to 85 per cent. That is a twelve-point spread on one game. A player at a casino running the bottom build is playing a materially different product from one at a casino running the top, with identical artwork and an identical name.

The practical instruction is the same as everywhere on this site, but it matters more here than almost anywhere: read the rules screen. On this catalogue the number genuinely could be almost anything.

The other half of the business

1X2 Network is not only a studio. It runs an aggregation platform distributing third-party content alongside its own, which is why the company sometimes describes a portfolio of “more than 750 slots”.

Treat that number carefully. The company’s own catalogue returns around 283 first-party products. The 750 figure necessarily includes partner studios it distributes rather than games it makes. Both are real; they are not the same claim.

The partner roster visible on its platform includes a long list of independent studios. We could read those only from logo images rather than published text, so we are not going to print a list we could not verify by name.

The real caution is the one its own transparency reveals. A studio that offers 88 per cent builds of its flagship Megaways games, and an 85 per cent build of anything, has handed operators a lot of room to take value out of the player.
