The people behind Boldplay

Valli Fragoso, CEO

Fragoso fronted the September 2022 rebrand announcement, framing the new Boldplay name as a reflection of the studio’s willingness “to take risks and push boundaries in casino software development” — and later fronted the April 2024 UKGC licence announcement, tying the expansion to “upholding responsible gaming standards” as the studio entered a stricter regulatory market. Beyond these two public statements, detailed biographical information about Fragoso isn’t publicly available, which we note plainly rather than guess at.

A studio that changed hands twice in its own short history

Boldplay’s ownership structure has moved fast for a studio not yet a decade old: launched independently as Matrix Studios, rebranded under the same ownership as Boldplay in 2022, then sold outright to Openbox Holdings in October 2024. Given how recently the UK licence was granted, there simply isn’t a long enforcement history to check yet either way — worth stating plainly rather than either over-claiming a spotless decade or implying a problem that doesn’t exist.
